What is Peace Over Fights?
The Peace Over Fights campaign aims to end acts of fighting at school, to promote peace, and to focus on what really matters which is education.
Instead of focusing on school work, students are often involved in fights at school nowadays. Physical fights in 2019 reported that younger students such as 9th and 10th graders tend to be more involved in fights (NCES, 2021). This report is true from my personal experience as an educator and from my own perspective. Younger students are at a challenging transition to independence and as young adults, so they react without control. Physical fights often occur in male students (NCES, 2021).

Kenneth Burke’s term "attitude" is that attitude comes from our surroundings and human’s natural way of responding. People are influenced by our surroundings. If we like something, we respond well. If we do not like something, we may not respond well. Humans are rhetorical beings which means we are persuaded by what is around us. People naturally choose symbols from the environment or “vibes” and reflect them into words and attitude. Attitude is more than a state of mind. It is the relationship between thoughts and action (Mahan-Hays, & Aden, 2003).

Small acts of kindness can
make People feel loved.
When you make others feel good, you will not only be making others feel good but also yourself. This attitude creates a butterfly effect that hopefully, everybody realizes. For example, opening the door for someone can be an act of kindness. Additionally, people tend to shy away from complimenting another person and it should not be that way. People do not realize it enough that words of affirmation affects our mood and overall mental health. I personally love it more when I receive compliments from other girls because it shows that girls support each other and we just created a mini sisterhood. We should spread love and kindness because this attitude creates a peaceful atmosphere.
